Cupcakes
  • 12 Vanilla Cupcakes store-bought or homemade
Buttercream
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Yellow food coloring
Decorations
  • Yellow candy melts
  • Orange candy melts
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Sprinkles optional

Method
 

  1. Prepare the buttercream: Beat butter until smooth.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well.
  3. Add milk and vanilla extract. Beat until fluffy.
  4. Tint the buttercream yellow.
  5. Frost the cupcakes with yellow buttercream.
  6. Melt the yellow candy melts.
  7. Dip cupcakes into melted yellow candy. Let set.
  8. Melt the orange candy melts.
  9. Create a small orange beak on each chick.
  10. Place two mini chocolate chips for eyes.
  11. Add sprinkles, if desired.

For best results, ensure the candy melts are completely smooth before dipping the cupcakes.
