Ingredients
  

Vegetables
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 cup cauliflower florets
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1/2 cup green beans, trimmed
Other
  • 1/4 cup water
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter Optional
Serving
  • Lemon wedges Optional

Method
 

  1. Wash and cut the vegetables into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Pour 1/4 cup of water into a pot with a steamer basket.
  3. Place the vegetables in the steamer basket.
  4. Bring water to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and steam for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Transfer vegetables to a bowl, season with salt and pepper, and optionally toss with olive oil or butter. Serve with lemon wedges, if desired.

Notes

Steaming preserves more nutrients than boiling. Be careful when removing the steamer basket as steam can burn.
